Answer to Dr. Tarek Heggy, Egyptian Bahai

On 24th January an article by Dr. Tarek Heggy (letter produced below) was put on the Egyptian Bahá’í website and surprisingly was translated into many language overnight it was spread all over the net.

Well Mr. Heggy first of all you are sitting out of our country, and spreading false rumors and spoiling image of our country, simply you should have said that you are a Bahá’í what is the need of saying that “If you were a Bahá’í”.

It has crossed all limits of Dramatics and entered the domain of Hypocrisy. Well Mr. Heggy you should know that in recent past there is a good attack on Bahá’í Faith accusing the Bahá’ís of hypocrisy and this is a best proof of it.

Means you want to show that you are a non Bahá’í and looking at the pity situation of the Bahá’ís of Egypt you are unable to control yourself resulting in this article.

Mr. Heggy there are quite a number of educated people who are surfing the net and they are wise enough to conclude that:

Are Baha’is the only ‘persecuted’ people on the Earth?

Let us first read these extracts from wikipedia.com

“…In the two thoPersecutionusand years of the Christian faith, about 70 million believers have been killed for their faith, of whom 45.5 million or 65% were in the twentieth century according to “The New Persecuted” (“I Nuovi Perseguitati”)

“..Atheists have experienced persecution throughout history. Persecution may refer to unwarranted arrest, imprisonment, beating, torture, or execution.

“With the Missouri extermination order Mormons became the only religious group to have a state of the United States legalize the extermination of their religion.

“The persecution of Jews occurred many times in Jewish history.

“The Sunni rulers under the Umayyads sought to marginalize the Shia minority and later the Abbasids turned on their Shia allies and further imprisoned, persecuted, and killed Shias. The persecution of Shias throughout history by Sunni co-coreligionists has often been characterized by brutal and genocidal acts.

“The Ahmadiyya regard themselves as Muslims, but are seen by many other Muslims as non-Muslims and “heretics”. In 1984, the Government of Pakistan, under General Zia-ul-Haq, passed Ordinance XX,[6] which banned proselytizing by Ahmadis and also banned Ahmadis from referring to themselves as Muslims.

“Hindus have been historically persecuted during Islamic rule of the Indian subcontinent and during Portuguese rule of Goa. In modern times, Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh have also suffered persecution.

“Hazara people of central Afghanistan have been persecuted by Afghan rulers at various times in the history. Since the tragedy of 9/11, Sunni Muslim terrorists have been attacking the Hazara community in southwestern Pakistani town of Quetta, home to some 500000 Hazara who fled persecution in neighbouring Afghanistan. Some 2400 men, women and children have been killed or wounded with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claiming responsibility for most of the attacks against the community.

“..Along with Jews, Homosexuals and others, the Roma Gypsies were rounded by the Nazi Regime of Germany and sent to the death camps.

Proselytizing Baha’i Faith in Schools is Unethical and Immoral

I was a student of New Era School and I will not hesitate in accepting that a full scale Proselytizing goes on in the school in the name of Children Moral Classes. To be honest I have to say here that I did accept the Baha’i Faith for a while for which I was given a declaration card to sign stating that I believe in Bahaullah and Abdul Baha. Therefore I was not at all surprised to see your blog which points towards the Baha’is Proselytizing the Faith to the tiny tots in the Schools in India in the name of Community development. The methods adopted by the Baha’is are dangerous and deceptive as the children are not mature enough and cannot realize what is the actual purpose of these courses. But the fact is that whatever Baha’is are doing is just the order of their apex organization the Universal House of Justice.

Abdu’l-Baha’s dim view of Buddhists and Buddhism

Abdu’l Baha Said :

Placing Buddha amongst theist prophets would probably not sit well with him seeing that he was agnostic at best and perhaps even an atheist. One of Buddhas three primary teachings is anatman, no permanent soul, jiva. The Baha’i Faiths co-opting of Buddhism is quite shallow considering Abdu’l-Baha’s dim view of Buddhists and Buddhism as lapsed theism: “‘Abdu’l-Bahá said: The real teaching of Buddha is the same as the teaching of Jesus Christ. The teachings of all the Prophets are the same in character. Now men have changed the teaching. If you look at the present practice of the Buddhist religion, you will see that there is little of the Reality left. Many worship idols although their teaching forbids it. … The teaching of Buddha was like a young and beautiful child, and now it has become as an old and decrepit man. Like the aged man it cannot see, it cannot hear, it cannot remember anything. Why go so far back? Consider the laws of the Old Testament: the Jews do not follow Moses as their example nor keep his commands. So it is with many other religions.” (Abdu’l-Baha, Abdu’l-Baha in London, p. 63)***

Anyone who has a true understanding of Buddhism knows just how untrue what Abdu’l-Baha’ said about Buddhism is. Abdu’l-Baha’s knowledge of Buddhism was obviously quite limited and based on the Shiah Islamic education he received. Buddhism was never a theistic religion, Buddhists have never worshiped statues any more than Baha’is worship the Greatest Name or pictures of Abdu’l-Baha’. My thought is that all of human spiritual experience, the entire human spiritual enterprise, is legitimate: pagan, polytheistic, theistic, non-theistic; and that this spiritual enterprise transcends belief in, or disbelief in, this god or that god. For me it is not a person’s professed beliefs, or disbelief’s, that defines them, it is their character and the manner they treat their fellow human beings. This is the true indicator of their spirituality.

Subject : State of Bahá’í Faith – Serious Introspection (II)

Dear Patrick,

This is second of my communication in a series in which I would like British Bahá’ís that matter to introspect. In the previous letter I had highlighted the growing influence of Persians and how the Bahá’í Faith in UK is left more as gossiping club than a progressing Faith. In this letter I wish to bring to attention the impersonal approach of Assemblies and Institutes in Britain and here again how the Persian shadow looms large.

Dispute in the Baha’i Community of UK

ukAccording to the latest census of the United Kingdom, there are no more than 5000 Baha’is in the UK. Like every other country, the disputes are arising in the little Baha’i community of UK also. The remote controlling of NSA by the Baha’is of Persian Background is unbearable to many but a very few dare to speak due to fear of ‘Administrative Rights Removal’. I found this letter addressed to Patrick O’Mara (Paddy) posted on TRB by a concerned Baha’i of UK.

To,

Mr. Patrick O’Mara

Subject : State of Bahá’í Faith – Serious Introspection

Dear Patrick,

Introspection is such a priceless activity that it is sufficient to wake one up from a slumber of complacency. And the Bahá’í Faith today is in that slumber. Through this letter I would like to unravel hard realities, so that we understand that much as we would like to think grand about ourselves, the facts are different. Also, it would emerge how we get indulged in worthless activities based on vested instigations, leaving aside priorities.

Lets visit History of Bahá’í Faith in the UK, to set the ground for introspection.

Abdul Baha – Racist with Foot in Mouth Syndrome…

“The black man must be grateful to the white man”-Abdul Baha

Here is ‘Abdu’l-Baha (Exemplar and Interpreter of the Baha’i Faith) speaking about Blacks:

“The black man must ever be grateful to the white man, for he has manifested great courage and self-sacrifice for the black race.”

Promulgation of Universal Peace, p.111

“If man is left in his natural state, he will become lower than the animal and continue to grow more ignorant and imperfect. The savage African tribes of central Africa are evidences of this.”

Abdul Baha’s prayers for America

I was recently surfing the Internet and came across this “prayer” of Abdul Baha (son of Bahaullah, the founder of the Bahai Faith) for the land of America. This prayers was made in 1912 when Abdul Baha travelled to America. A Bahai website says that “Abdul Baha called on America to become a land of spiritual distinction and leadership and gave a powerful vision of America’s spiritual destiny — to lead the way in establishing the oneness of humanity.”

The prayer goes like this:

“O Thou kind Lord!
This gathering is turning to Thee.
These hearts are radiant with Thy love.
These minds and spirits are exhilarated by the message of Thy glad-tidings.

Opium Smoking Baha’is had low ideas of honour….

Subhe Azal with Family

Subhe Azal with Family

Boykin correctly pointed out that the Bab had appointed Mirza Yahya as his successor. Baha’u’llah essentially stole control of the movement from his brother, despite the fact that the Bab, the very manifestation of God (in their view) had appointed Mirza Yahya.

The Baha’i explanation of this is as ingenious as it is sinister. They claim that the Bab only appointed Mirza Yahya publicly as a rouse or cover for Baha’u’llah. That is, the Bab actually appointed Baha’u’llah as his successor, but publicly put forward Mirza Yahya in the event of persecution.

Wilson states it thus:

“We have seen that Subh-i-Azal, the half-brother of Baha’u’llah, was appointed by the Bab as his successor. According to Abdul Baha, this appointment was a dishonest subterfuge on the part of Baha, arranged by him through secret correspondence with the Bab, in order that Baha might be relieved of danger and persecution and be protected from interference. . . This account shows the low ideas of honour and truthfulness in the minds of Baha and Abdul Baha” (Wilson, p. 204).
